Wil is the third largest city in the Canton of St. Gallen in north-eastern Switzerland. On the highest point in the city (Hofberg) is the 37 metres hight lookout tower "Wiler Turm". It was built 2006 and constructed entirely of wood with striking x-shaped supports and a 189-step double spiral staircase leading to the viewing platform at 34 metres above ground. On a clear day the Alpstein massif with the Mt. Säntis and the Churfirsten peaks form the center of a spectacular panoramic view.
